Wondering about an October holiday this year (last week of the month). Ideal temperature would be high teens / low twenties, so probably pretty far south in Europe. Athens? Somewhere else in Greece, or has everything closed down by then? Kids will be 12 and 15. Watersports a plus for them. Culture and scenery good for the adults. Or we could go for cooler temperatures and go for southern Italy/Spain? We definitely want self-catering. Walking distance to shops / cafes that are not all closed up for the winter season would be good.

Cyprus? you would get temperatures of around 22*c and if you stayed somewhere like this then you are near the beach and waterpark as well as the town centre.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of Cyprus.

Is second Cyprus. Great weather at that time of year, shortish flight, easy driving (on left), loads to explore.

Sorry- that should say 'I'd second....'.
