Malaga

I have just booked to go to Malaga for dh's 30th birthday for 4 nights in June. We've never been before.
Just us, no kids (although dh is a big kid!)
We will use trains and buses.
I've attached a picture of where we are staying. Any suggestions on things worth seeing while we're there?
I did read about an animal park Selwo Adventure Park, is that going to be tricky to get to?
Any hints and tips appreciated Smile

I love Malaga, lots to see and easy to get around.
Get a taxi up to www.malagaturismo.com/en/tourist-resources/detail/castillo-de-gibralfaro/12 and then walk back down via the footpath (not the same way as you get driven up). It costs a few euros to get in and there's a café/bar and great view of the city.
Also the sherry bar Antigua Casa de Guardia, where they chalk up your tab on the bar.
Get the train to Benalmadena (Arroyo de la Miel) and go on the cable car. There's a birds of prey display there too.

We’ll definitely be going here this year, many of our friends go for weekends. Cheap flights miminal transfer time and I believe it’s really nice.

Excellent! Thank you for the tips!
I'm excited and the weather is supposed to be lovely in June!

I've just got back from there. The men are particularly mysogynistic. Some nice lakes amongst the mountains, good fishing so I'm told.

They sell absinthe at the Malaga duty free You need a hearty gag reflex to drink it though.

@SpamChaudFroid I can't stomach absinthe anymore 😩 That and the two day hangovers which follow Blush

This wine bar near the market: antiguacasadeguardia.com/

The Alcazabar is beautiful. There's a nice quiet cafe outside its walls halfway up the hill.

La Recova for breakfast.

As above plus the Picasso museum is pretty good. Seville is do-able in a day too by train, recommend the palace and the cathedral. Loads of nice little places to eat in Malaga old town round the cathedral and the Roman ruins.

Personally I walked up to the Gibalfaro via the Alcazaba then down through the residential but as the views were stunning but it is a good old trek.

Selwo is a fairly good distance from Malaga City. Just bear that in mind. And it is not worth it if only adults going on the trip.

The city is amazing. Most people just turn left or right out of the airport to the Costas or Nerja. They don't know what they are missing!

Do try the tapas bars and obv the shopping on Calle Larios. Take an open top bus tour. There are beaches with lovely restaurants (Chiringuitos) too within walking distance. Amazing place. I am sure you will have a wonderful time.

Oh yes the beach is excellent, I stopped off there for a bit on a Sunday which is normally Spanish family day on the beach but it wasn't rammed at all. The green walkway between the seafront and the main road has some nice little touches to it as well. Quite fun if a cruise ship comes in too.
Oh and the bus from the airport to the city centre is spot on!
