Hi there
We are off to Argentina in Feb, feeling quite anxious first time in South America.
Staying in Buenos Aires then travelling to north west Argentina and down to Mendoza then back to Buenos Aires.
Have got things provisionally booked in terms of hotels internal flights but would welcome any ideas thoughts 9n what to do places to eat etc

We have recently been to Argentina. We stayed in the Palermo Soho area of BA and there were endless choices of places to eat. All excellent.

Whilst in Argentina try and visit a parilla. They are the BBQ restaurants. Obviously avoid if you are vegetarian! We took the Lonely Planet guide with us and we found that to be very reliable and absolutely invaluable.

We stayed just outside Mendoza and we did a wine trip (with a driver and car) and finished with lunch at a winery. It was amazing! We also went on a photographic safari into the Andes from there. Stunning day out.

If you pm me, I can give you more details. We did quite a lot in BA . Would you like info?

We didn’t go to Salta or Córdoba but went to Patagonia and El Calafate. The country is absolutely fantastic and everyone is helpful. The internal flights were good. Modern aircraft and largely on time. I really do want to go back and visit areas we didn’t have time for!

Yes thankyou for offering I'd love any details you are willing to give.
Unfortunately I am clueless how to PM and despite searching cannot find guidance on how to do it!
Maybe I'm not safe to travel !

Ive got two weeks to take end March. Is it crazy to think Buenos Aires would be possible? Worth it for 2 weeks?

BubblesBuddy · 06/01/2019 09:50

Not at all. You would need to be selective about what you do and where you go. BA takes 3 nights if you do the highlights and from there you could do El Calafate, drive through Patagonia and maybe go into Uruguay from BA and take a trip to a gaucho ranch. You couldn’t possibly go everywhere so look at a good guide book and see what interests you most. If it’s wine, Mendoza should be on the list. You have to build in time for internal flights and flying around too much takes up too much time! So look at what are highlights for you and build an itinerary around that.

Thanks bubbles - wasn’t sure if I was over stretching self even thinking about it. Have always travelled in longer chunks unless shorter haul escapes that don’t cost so much. Will investigate further

We are only going for two weeks so hopefully will be ok.
It's one of the biggest countries in the world so as bubbles says focus on what interests you.

Iguazu Falls on the Brazilian border. Magical

While you are in BA, take a short train ride out to the suburb of Tigres. It’s a small community built on a network of tiny islands connected by small rivers and creeks and it’s very green and very beautiful. There are no roads only small paths and tracks between houses on the islands. Everyone travels by boat to and from the station to commute into BA for work. I remember the local school had loads of little canoes and kayaks moored outside, the aquatic equivalent of the bike sheds! There are a couple of nice bars/restaurants and it’s so tranquil after the hustle and bustle of BA.

That sounds wonderful already I'm thinking one visit won't be enough!!
