Jordan

Going to Jordan for 9 nights in March and trying to plan how to split our time!
We’re flying into Aqaba and out of Amman, so will be hiring a car and travelling north through the country.

Has anyone done a similar trip and can advise? We definitely want to visit the Wadi Rum and are thinking of 2 nights for this but know we will likely need a guide, so any tips on how to arrange this would be great.

No tips on arranging, but there was an episode of Travel Man on recently in Jordan. Would be worth a watch for inspiration. It will be on 4OD.

Thanks AllTheCakes - watched that the other night and it was really useful, particularly the sites in Amman and Mount Nebo. Would love to go to the dome tents in Wadi Rum but looked them up and they’re a bit spendy!!

Not done your trip but have been to petra and Amman, and planning on going to Aqaba in March. Petra is a must see! I don't think there's much to see in Amman relatively, so I'd probably do:

4 nights Aqaba
1 night wadi rum
1 night Petra
3 nights Amman

Depends if you want to see the Dead Sea too?

Thanks DreamingofSunshine! I’m super excited for Petra, definitely want to do at least 2 days there exploring. Also yes, I’d like to see the Dead Sea too. Are you going to Aqaba for the diving? We’re hoping to get a day of diving in there Smile

Been having a research these last few days, and now thinking maybe:

Aqaba - 2 nights
Wadi Rum - 1 night
Petra - 3 nights
Dead Sea - 1 night
Amman - 2 nights

I want to try and get to Jerash as well, but think we can do that as a day trip from Amman... luckily our flight home is late so we’ll have a full day to do things on the last day too.

we went in oct half term and loved it. we had the kids with us so didn't stay in Amman though I think there is quite a bit to see. we flew to Amman and then went on the kings highway to Petra, stopping off at mount nabo and kerash castle which were great. Petra was amazing and needs a full day. we loved wadi rum and would highly recommend the Space Village Camp. we did a lovely sunrise camel ride. we then went to Aqaba for a couple of nights on the beach. we went to the Dead Sea on the way back to Amman but unfortunately there had been bad floods so we couldn't go into the Dead Sea. it was a very interesting and friendly county

Thanks lu9months!

Will look at that Wadi Rum camp, and also now working out if we can get to Mt Nebo on our way from Dead Sea to Amman.

Did you self drive? How did you find it?
