Florida with young children.

Hi. We've booked to go to Florida with our DDs (4 and 2) in May, and we've booked it as it will be our last 'big holiday' for a while as from September 2019 DD1 will be in school and the school holiday prices will mean no more big holidays for a while for us.

We will get Disney tickets (and that'll be the main part of our holiday) but thinking the DDs are a bit young for Universal so not planning on getting those. Is LEGOLAND florida worth it (I looked and it seems expensive)!

Any tips for surviving the flight and holiday with the DDs being so young?

We took DD when she was just over 2.
The flight was ok, she had a tablet pre loaded and our phones and she slept for some of it as we'd were up very early. Tools books and colouring etc and took it in turns to entertain her.

Once in Florida we would usually be up early due to the time difference, so we would be at a park for opening (very important if you want to miss the rush) do rides till lunch. Either eat at the park or head back to the villa. DD would normally fall asleep. The afternoon was then spent around the pool and back to the parks for the evening show.

We usually go in May too, and although it has got busier every year we have been we have never had to q for longer then 40 minutes for anything! Make the most of fast passes throughout the morning and check q times on the app for anything near where you are that might have a short q.

It will be great!
X

They won’t remember going. I’d save the money and go when they are older. My youngest was six, now 20 and remembers very little even though he has an excellent memory.

Granted we took DD this year in May.... she was 2.4 years.... she still talks about it and asks to go back quite often.

We took her for our memories more then hers though.... seeing her meet the characters and experience Disney was absolutely amazing. And the pictures are all fab too. So for us it was worth it.

Thank you for the tips Bertie.

Maiden we're largely going in May as my Mum (who will be 67) is going for the first time ever (she has always wanted to go) and I thought it made sense for her to go whilst I know she is in good health and he will love seeing the kids having a great time.

Good idea to load their tablets up with as much as possible. Did you find the tablet batteries lasted the flight?

Most planes have USB chargers in the seat these days, so you just need a cable.

when i first took my daughter on a long haul flight i made a surprise bag for her.

i added child safe headphones,basic mp3 with kids music,party bag fillers,snacks,colouring/sticker books,small toys,pens and a few sweets.

just lots of things she had not seen before this helped keep her occupied and happy.

i also read several storey books about going on a plane before hand so it all just felt like a big adventure.

A few years later when we went to disney it was easier for us because she was grown. But i will say there is a lot of walking and a lot of heat.Take a double pushchair or buy a cheapo from walmart.

They may not need one but kids get tired and these will allow them to take a break from the heat and give you something to carry stuff with.

Also they do some really good spray on suncream at walmart that drys really quickly called Equate.Great because cream like suncreams melt in the heat so this makes reapplying suncream much easier.

Theres so much to do in disney i wouldn't worry about lego land if you do want something else sea world water park is great fun. Also the path ways in water parks get hot you may want to get them water shoes.

Water shoes and activity bags for the plane are a good idea thank you.

For the USB thing in planes can you access content directly from the USB onto a tablet?
