How to loosen straps on Joie Every Stage FX car seat??

We do not use our car much but desperately need help as we are taking our son out tomorrow.

We have the Joie Every Stage FX car seat and our 6wo son has barely been in it since coming home from hospital. Consequently the straps are now a little too tight for him but we cannot figure out how to loosen them!!

We have found the button under the lining at the front of the seat which you allegedly press while tugging the straps to loosen them, but nothing happens when you do this.

All videos online just show how to tighten the straps.

Can anyone explain?? As mentioned this is quite urgent as we need to take him out tomorrow in the car and have only just realised this is a problem for us.

Thanks

Stick your finger right into the hole and there is a metal lump. You need to sort of push it towards you / down and pull the straps at the same time.

It was quite tricky when new but after a few weeks it's easier.

Was able to push the button down OK but nothing happened when I pulled the straps at the same time. Will try again though

Give it a really good yank

Pull the actual black straps rather than the shoulder/chest pads - this caught us out at the beginning.
Apologies if you're already doing this!

Thanks all.
Husband kept trying and eventually it worked!
Maybe as @Cherry321 said you need to push the button at a certain angle!
Part of the problem is probably, as I said, that we just don't use the car that often so don't get the practice.
Feel like making a Youtube video showing how to loosen the straps now to help other desperate parents :p

Make sure you aren’t holding the padded bit in the straps as they are fixed on mine. Pull Just the straps close to the buckle
