Algarve in April

Is it warm? Pleasant enough to swim? We're thinking of a cheap getaway beginning of April and tempted by the short flight compared to Canaries.

Algarve is fine in April although pool would need to be heated...Malta would be a warmer place at that time of year or Morocco.

I went to vilamoura in the Algarve one April- the temperature on the beach was 90f BUT the sea was not very safe there, also the pool was in heated so I didn't swim. Still got a tan.
