Last year we went to Holiday Inn Sunspree in Montego Bay, Jamaica. We did not have children then but there were lots of families there. There was a children's club and the hotel also provided babysitters etc.

HTH

St James Club, Antigua is nice. Has a FREE kids club that will take your children off your hands and feed them dinner so you can eat in peace... we liked it so much we bought a timesahre!

Perfectly appropriate for me too I think!

Hi CD, here are a few suggestions (in no particular order): Turtle Beach Resort-Barbados, Gala Resort-Playacar, Mexico, Sunscape Resort Punta Cana-Dominican Republic, Club St Lucia by Splash-St Lucia, Jolly Beach Resort-Antigua. These are all 'All Inclusive' hotels. Turtle Beach is the smallest. However if you want loads of advice on the subject post your question on either (or both) of the following travel boards: this under Caribbean Islands, General Interest or this under General Caribbean. Happy researching

Hmmm, thanks everyone.
I am looking for a small independent hotel ideally. The place we normally stay in is not suitable for dd as is all open and on small cliff with steps straight down to it's own little beach but for some inexplicable reason dh has decided to bring dd next year who will be 2.5!!!!

so we have to abandon our own little bit of paradise for something a little more child-friendly. However I don't want to go for somewhere big, I just can't do big hotels.

Need small, friendly, family-run places ideally, but that are safe.

have a look at round hill in jamaica (www.roundhilljamaica.com) - it's gorgeous. only 36 rooms. it does have a free kids club if you want it, but what i think is really nice is that it has these private villas (27 of them) with pools which you can stay in. it's totally unpretentious for an upmarket caribbean resort, staff are incredibly friendly. got a nice private beach, a spa and you can do stuff like yoga, tai chi, or play tennis, or do nothing!! i spoke to their marketing manager this week and they have some specials on til end of November, like stay 7 nights get 1 nights free, and free kid places, and i think they are upgradign some of the rooms so you het an automatic room upgrade if you book the superior rooms.
