RV in Scotland in December - any advice VERY welcome

Can anyone recommend any campsites that are open off-season? We are picking up the RV in Edinburgh and don't want to drive ALL the time, but we have 3 nights and would love to explore some of the beautiful countryside. Seeing the northern lights would be an added bonus if anyone has any advice as to where we might spot them, but the trip doesn't hinge on it!

Thanks in advance.

dumfries and galloway is beautiful and although not northern Scotland you have a great chance of seeing them particularly at the galloway dark sky park.
there's white sand , turquoise water beaches, forests , hills and great campsites

Wow - that place looks lovely! Thanks so much for your help - I knew the wisdom of Mumsnet would provide but I didn't expect so much wisdom quite so quickly! Flowers
