query re: marriage and holiday/passport - please help!

Hi all

A quick query which I think I know the answer to, but want to check. I'm getting married in a few weeks time and going on holiday abroad a couple of days later.

I will change my name to my partners. Am I able to keep my passport in my maiden name and book my holiday in my maiden name and change my passport when I get back? Or am I obliged to change it before the holiday? I am assuming though that this will be impossible because I'll need a marriage certificate to prove the name change and obviously won't have time to change my name on my passport between the wedding and the holiday?

Please make this clear for me!

you need this

You can do either. You can just travel under your maiden name - no problem there, or you can change your passport in advance by getting a form from the post office which will have a bit for the person who is marrying you to fill in iirc.

The important thing is that the name on your ticket and passport match. I went a couple of holidays under my maiden name and didn't change my passport for 6 months or so. You are definitely not obliged to do it immediately!
