Help!! Lost baggage!

Can anyone help with a lost luggage problem? Dd1 flew with BA from Barcelona to Aberdeen last Tuesday but her bags went missing. She reported it at Aberdeen airport but absolutly nothing has happened.

She has tried to call BA countless times but no one ever answers the phone. The airport say they can't help and her travel insurance won't pay up unless she gives them a Lost Luggage report from BA, which she can't get because they don't answer the phone.

She's due to come out to Nigeria to visit us next week and all her summer clothes are in the bag, plus her make-up and shoes.

Is there anything else we can do to get things moving - she's pretty desperate.

Whom did she report it to? Did they not give her a reference number? Mostly bags turn up in 48 hours, or the airline has to pay compo, but only a weight basis, not value.

Yes, she reported it and has a number. But no one will speak to her! The airport says it's a BA problem and she just can't get through to BA, either by phone or email.

what about using the online help
BA damaged/delayed/lost.

suedonim · 24/06/2007 17:53

Done that, still no joy. Really, it's about getting BA to answer their bl%dy phones!

I don't expect they will, as most if their business and customer service is done online now. Good luck.

Dd's just said that she's had no reply to her emails and that when she phones she just gets put endlessly on hold. She hasn't time to do that every day because she works and also can't afford the phone calls, she's just a student.

What a drag. Maybe she should go back out to the airport, or to a BA office. They can't ignore her in person. Or call BA corporate head office and complain/ask for help.

suedonim · 24/06/2007 20:27

She would do the former but she doesn't drive and it costs a fortune to get to the airport. I've just said I'll try to find a corporate address for her, there must be something we can do. It'll be six days tomorrow.

looks like there are quite a few missing

19.06.07
6,000 cases got lost in a new baggage-handling fiasco

I would speak to insurance company about making a claim ASAP.

Has she tried BA's Executive Club number? 0870 850 4 850, between 0600 and 2000. Might be worth a go?

suedonim · 24/06/2007 20:51

Now, that's very interesting, Wnrh, thank you. That makes me suspect dd's bags have somehow got caught up in the muddle.

Ds2 was in London last weekend and had his flight home delayed until the following day. It's not been a good week!

That's a great idea, Muminbrum! Good old MN -I have a couple more avenues to explore now.
