Last minute city break recommendations

As ever, left things to the last minute! Do you have any recommendations for a city break over the winter holiday that would appeal to young teenagers, be walkable, and weather better than here (if possible)?

Even better if we could get there by train!

Not better weather, but Amsterdam is great for a short break - lots to do and see, - e.g. ice skating, cool museums, boat trips, cycling around the park, pancake houses. Now has the bonus of direct train from London.

For warmer weather you'll be heading pretty far south (e.g. Seville) - doable by train but not quick and not cheap.

Strasbourg is lovely at this time of year and you can get a direct train via Lille. The weather won't be nicer though.

Thanks for those suggestions - I know we'll probably have to compromise on something. And I agree Amsterdam is great. We had such a good time there I was hoping to find somewhere else as good!
