I haven't been away in years. I have no friends or family to go with, and DP hates going anywhere.

I think I should bite the bullet and go alone. Can anywhere recommend a safe, good destination for a woman my age?

I'm also in my late twenties and if I want to travel (which I do!), I have to go alone! I try and do one short haul and one long haul trip each year. I've been to Beijing, New York and Florida by myself and am going to San Fransisco next April. Short-haul, I've done Barcelona, Budapest, Copenhagen and Vienna solo. All of my trips have been done on a shoe string and all of them have been fine, but I plan really thoroughly.

I've travelled widely on my own, India, SE Asia, Canada, Turkey and western Europe. Nowhere is particularly safe or dangerous, it is what you make it. What are you interested in, what do you like doing, do you want hot, beach, city?

What do you like to do on holiday.

Have done Krakow, Vilnius and Riga on my own - all three were easy to navigate and I felt safe on my own.

Venice is safe and beautiful - quite unique, always loved going there. Can get there fairly cheaply with Ryanair.

Berlin, Venice, Copenhagen, Stockholm all felt very safe fab walking cities to explore on my own with loads to do. I love solo travel - I've found fellow female solo travellers great to chat to along the way.
