Hong Kong international airport

A bit unsure of what to do here. We have a lay over of 16 hours in HK international airport and two young children (eek!). There doesn’t seem to be a hotel inside the terminal itself so we are debating whether to leave the terminal for the nearest hotel and come back. Any advice?

This hotel is situated very close by:-

Have not stayed there myself but it is close to the airport.

there is a Novotel at City Gates - it's about 10 mins from the airport and there's a free shuttle. The hotel connects to the City Gates shopping centre so lots of places to get something to eat - Macdonalds, Pret, several coffee places, pizza express, Vietnamese restaurant...etc.

Stayed at Regal on layover to New Zealand once, v convenient as right outside airport. Did not provide cot as requested (so baby had to sleep in bed between us) but we got a few hours kip so it was worth it.

@defelcardan how long did it take to get out then back in?

Very quick, you have to go back through security and customs but it doesn't take long.

I would definitely definitely recommend booking a hotel... Freshening up or having a nap, can't be underestimated!

I've stayed at the Citygate Novotel, it's a short taxi drive away. As PP said, it's connected to a big shopping centre. You could also go on the cable car to the big Buddha, if you're feeling keen!
