What's the best destination for a 2 year old?

Hello,

Would love some advice on a short haul destination for June 2019 with a just 2 year old. Probably would prefer a resort as long as it's not too big.

We've found holidays with a toddler to be a bit hit and miss, as he's my first I don't know what he will be like at each stage so it's hard to plan holidays ahead! We were big travellers pre DS and never stayed in resorts but we stayed in a lovely small resort recently and it was really good with a toddler so I might be won over.

Would love any recommendations of destinations and accommodation.

Thank you so much!

Have you looked at agriturismos in Italy and Sicily? They're farms you stay on that have a swimming pool and restaurant. Some have a playground, animals, access to the beach etc. You get the benefits of a resort whilst eating authentic food and staying in a family run place.

Menorca is always recommend on Mumsnet. We went twice when ours were little and it really was fantastic for younger children.

Safe shallow beaches, quiet resorts with lots of pools and water parks.

Cala Galdana is my favourite resort. The beach is gorgeous and it's really quiet and green with pine trees. There's crazy golf and a couple of water slides you can pay for at the cafe. The sea is shallow and clear for miles out.

Great recommendations, thank you! I hadn't heard of agriturismos. Had heard Menorca is nice but great to get a resort recommendation.

I've been looking into Sardinia which people also say is good for toddlers, in case anyone else comes along with experience of Sardinia.

I stayed at Tui Family Life Janne e Sole in Sardinia last year with our 3 year old. On one hand it might not be what you're looking for as it isn't in a resort, it's all inclusive and the hotel beach isn't great. We're quite tempted to stay again but if we did we'd hire a car so we could explore a bit more.

However, on the plus side the food was really good, there are nice beaches which are around 20 min walk/5 min drive (hotel also offers a paid for bus service to La Cinta beach), it has a' baby club' for under threes with a room with some toys (you can pay for a baby sitting service) and a playground. In general we found it was quite a chilled out place with a nice mix of nationalities.

Sardinia was beautiful, I would love to explore it more, sadly I've been inflicted with pelvic girdle pain during my current pregnancy so we barely left the hotel which wasn't the plan at all.

We stayed at Laganas in Zakynthos when our son was a toddler, great beach shallow a long way out. A bit commercial for me& DH but great for young children.

There is a lot is be said for Majorca with a toddler. Flight is only two hours, sandy beaches, warm but not too hot in early summer. We stayed in Alcudia and would recommend.
