Cancelled Holiday Due To Pregnancy Risk

Hi guys, just wanted some advice from you guys.

My bf and I booked a holiday to Nairobi, Kenya. It was only when we paid it off when I discovered I was pregnant. Zika is rife in the surrounding areas of Kenya so have decided not to travel. We are gutted but know it's for the best.

Money-wise it's a difficult one. We booked Qatar flights through STA and the policy states it is non-refundable. However, I read online that Qatar have been offering refunds for those who have had to cancel their trip due to the Zika virus. I did contact them but then said that because we booked through STA, we have to contact them. And STA are saying that they can't refund so would have to speak to Qatar so obviously I'm going around in circles.

Other than a name change, is there anything else anyone would suggest? Can I claim through the travel insurance? Or use Resolver?

We wouldn't be too bothered about the money but we think it'd really help the baby!

speak to your travel insurance company first and let them handle this for you because of course neither Qatar now STA want to pay out and you will only be pushed around in circles. you will need a letter from your doctor confirming the dates of the pregnancy because your insurance company want to be certain that you could not have either been pregnant or known you were pregnant when you booked the holiday. If they think you knew you were pregnant then booked it then they wont pay out. also download the govt advice on visiting Kenya from the travel safe website. good luck
