1 week or 2 with small children

Hi just wondered whether other people think 1 week or 2 is the ideal in taking children abroad on holiday. We went to Greece for 2 weeks but are going to Spain for a week, we can book an extra week for not much more but found 2 wks abit too long last time so not sure, 10 days would prob be the ideal (but not an option!)

depends what there is to do where you're going. It's not long haul, so there's no jetlag to get over. Personally I'd go for 2, but that's just because a week always seems really short to me.

You've kind of answered your own question! But personally I think 10 to 14 days is perfect; 7 is too short. By the time you've packed, unpacked got to know your environment and chilled out you have to repack blah blah blah.... I'm never sure how much of a holiday you actually get with little ones anyway- had one holiday at home once; 2 weeks of days out and it was fab!

menorca lovely. very easy family friendly we went when i was 5 months preg with ds2 and had a lovely time.maybe depends on age of dcs and how hot weather wil be and if they sleep well. my 2 always wake a lot on hols and i can be ready for home. and if there is a washing machine!

Hi I agree about the never a 'holiday' with kids part! It will be July so probably hot and they are 4,4,10 and 8 so not tiny but the DS's are not good sleepers!! (and no wash machine!)

We did 1 week the first time and really wished we'd booked 2....but then, had we booked 2, we may have regretted it!!

Safe to go for 1 and then see how it goes. If it is a success, opt for 2 the next time.
