I have booked an Easter holiday to Nerja 100% based on mumsnet threads..would never have considered it otherwise . So hit me with your suggestions

  • family friendly eating
  • places where kids can play and I sip wine and gaze at a view (age 2 and 5)
  • attractions
  • day trips
  • how to do Malaga. We will have a car, but better to bus?
  • any nice markets etc.

We have 9 nights and a house in west end of town.
Thank you

I went for 4 nights in half term with mum in early 70s plus DC 11 and 8. We were near Burriana beach which we enjoyed. First trip to the Med for my two as we usually do eurocamp type sites in NW Europe.

Beach had lots of restaurants with play areas right by them ideal for view, wine, kids playing. Lovely view of mountains from the beach.

We only ate on the beach so not sure what the restaurants in the centre are like. Centre is pleasant and relaxing but not amazing. Frigiliana up the road is supposed to be very pretty.

Nerja caves were worth a visit. Your two probably a bit young though.

We drove to Granada just over an hour away. Easy drive and stunning scenery. The Alhambra is signposted from the motorway and has a huge car park. Easy to get to the town centre from there.

We stopped in Malaga on the way to the airport as our flight in the evening. Difficult to find the centre but worth the effort. Would definitely go back to Malaga for a grown up weekend sometime.

@TheSconeOfStone
Thanks that's so helpful. Hadn't even realised Grenada was so close. Def on list. Getting excited a bit early

I second a lot of what @TheSconeOfStone said!

It was years ago I went, was only 11 Grin but Frigliana was beautiful and well worth the trip. The caves were very good too.

We also done a day trip on a coach to Gibraltar which was great, had a choice to either go and see the monkeys or the dolphins, we picked the dolphins.

Our favourite restaurants were Ayos paella on burriana beach, restaurant carebeo 34 in Nerja and El Mirrador in Frigliana. We enjoyed the caves as well as the Rio Chillar walk from Nerja. The water park in Almunecar was great though saltwater. loved visiting Granada. We stayed in Frigiliana and loved it.There are issues with sewerage in the water in Nerja and along the coast, you just have to be aware.

Thanks all. We are near burriana beach. Love paella.. We noticed horrible water quality elsewhere in Spain this summer. Think I'll keep kids out of the sea, it will be freezing cold anyway at Easter. Frijiliana is on the list. Almost stayed there, but I was too picky to find what I wanted (Wi-Fi, dishwasher etc_ still cheap).
