I have flights arranged to Milan in June and am hoping to arrange a 3 town/city road trip. We've already been to Milan so thinking maybe Turin/somewhere else?/lake town?
Anyone travelled around there can offer advice?

Como is very nice.

Como is a nice small city, short hop over into Switzerland. Milan itself pretty chaotic. Bologna is lovely but perhaps too far.

We travelled into Milan and went on to stay by lake guarda. We visited, Verona, Venice and Bologna. All near enough to travel there and back in a day and all beautiful.

Bergamo old town is beautiful - we went on a misty autumn evening . It was so atmospheric.... they pipe opera into the streets in the early evening.

I have a HUGE soft spot for Turin. The film museum is amazing with an art-deco style tower that you can get a lift up. Beautiful by the river. Loads of shops, tram, many piazzas and great bars. I would (and have) spect days very happily there.

Bergamo (Cittá Alta) is absolutely beautiful, the perfect medieval town. Como (for trips on the lake to visit the various wonderful gardens) and Verona are also lovely.

Second/third Bergamo. Really lovely city (I prefer it to Verona actually)

Well thank you all - Bergamo old town, Turin and Como (for the lakes) sounds like I have some planning to do

But late, but we love Turin too - we spend a night there in each direction every time we go to Italy and we love it. Haven't really even done much tourist stuff, just like the atmosphere. And my mil recommends Bergamo too, to echo PPs.

I think realistically venice is too far for a day trip, verona is about 90 minutes by car, Lake Garda an hour, not been to Bergamo but my Dad has and said it's lovely,

we spent a week based in Verona last October it was beautiful Venice was nearly 2 hours driving from Verona we went for 1 day also did lake Garda, Soave and the mountains and some other hill towns and loads of ice cream
