Oslo over New Year

We're heading to Oslo for a week and will be there for New Year's Eve. Has anyone been before and have any recommendations for things to do, places to eat etc. We have two kids ages 4 and 7. Thanks in advance.

Korketrekken. The massive toboggan run. Best fun we ever had with our kids.

You get a day pass and take the metro up to Frognerseteren (sp?) the end of the line, rent a toboggan. Whizz down the track and end up two stations back. Then jump on the train back to the top and do it again. Keep going as many times as you like.

Viking ship museum was pretty cool too.

Norsk Folkmuseum is good....lots of old/traditional buildings and a stave church. It's very very pretty when covered in snow!

I've only ever done cheap and cheerful trips on my own so can't recommend places to eat as I'd fill up at breakfast in the hotel (usually stay in Thon Munch Hotel) then snack or buy pizza slices from a store later in the day.

Must add I'm extremely jealous!! Not been to Oslo in 8 years....been 3 times in total.
