Prague in December

Going for 4 nights, first week in December with my DD (20), staying just off Wenceslas square. Not been before, any recommendations/avoids? We are history /art/ culture lovers so hoping there will be lots to do. DD loves animals, what is Prague like?

We loved the Castle area, loads to do up there. Cross over the Charles Bridge and look at all the gargoyles etc. Jewish quarter also interesting, although I forgot Saturday is the sabbath so we weren't able to go to the museum.

We avoided the new town, went for a look but didn't see much of interest.
