I think that they brought their Christmas market to Hull last year and are doing so again this year - not as romantic, but also not as far to go.

Welllllllllllllllll it might be..

I am looking at going Thursday 29th of November until December 2nd.

Thing is Christmas markets only start on December 1st.

Now if they are an organised nation this is fine. If they have a touch of the manyana manyana and they are not ready, then I will have gone all that way for nowt. IYKWIM.

...you didn't go to Brno while you were there did you?

I don't live in Prague but am originally from there so I did a bit of search for you. The market is indeed scheduled to start officially on 1st December. The 'kick-off' takes traditionally place in the evening with performances, carols, lighting the Xmas tree lights, etc. - very much an equivalent of lighting the Xmas lights on Oxford street. If it says it happens on 1st, then it will happen, as they will probably have all sorts of celebrities lined up for the opening.
Enjoy!

Hello - I live in Prague. I agree that if it's scheduled to start on the 1st, it will do. They changed the style of the Christmas market last year - better-looking huts, and more of an emphasis on selling proper Christmassy things (too many stalls had been selling general tourist things), more food.

Give me a shout and we can meet up on the Old Town Square I live about five minutes away. Although we're going to Australia for Christmas, which involves going early in December/poss. late November to get cheap tickets (as yet unbought due to slight post-baby shortage of money...)
