Car seat hire in UK (Edinburgh)?

We're planning a trip to Edinburgh (from London) and want to avoid taking our car seat + base. I've come across one small business (Baby Baby equipment hire) that hires them out, but would prefer to go with a name I've heard of if possible. We're visiting my parents so don't need to hire a car, just the seat. Any thoughts?

I'm sure you mum and dad must have friends who have grandchildren, ask if you can borrow their seat for the length of visit, or but a cheapie from Mothercare as "their" seat. We did for my parents, by 8 months they can be forward facing can't they? So you could get a seat quite cheaply. Probably cheaper than hiring

Mum and Dad have asked round their friends but none of them can spare a seat for a week. DS isn't heavy enough for forward-facing yet, unfortunately - not keen to buy a rear-facing one as it wouldn't get used again

We have taken our own car seat with us several times now on the Edinburgh -London and return journey and it's always been fine. They just put it through as outsize baggage and you collect it at the other end. We've never had any problems or damage (even when flying el cheapo airlines).
IMHO you have more peace of mind using your own car seat as you know its history. I have friends who rented one once and refused to ever do it again as the one they got and all of the others available were really grubby and a bit ramshackle.
Just a suggestion.

Thanks Lynda - yes I had the same worry about hired car seats which was why I was looking for a reputable company. We're getting the train to Edinburgh actually - have done the journey as far as Newcastle before and just wanted to minimise our luggage this time.
I'm from Edinburgh originally so can't wait to take DS to mummy's home city - hope he's impressed!

Can anyone recommend a company that do car seat hire in or around the Farnborough area. We are heading down south from Edinburgh and need a car seat from Friday Morning to Sunday afternoon. The places I had hoped would do it now cant. (sad)
