Greek Island small family run hotel recommendations?

Years ago I stayed in a family-run hotel in Cyprus.
It was tiny but lovely and I'd like to find similar again, if it exists.

The Cyprus hotel all those years ago was a proper family run hotel with only a few rooms.
They did serve breakfast then some evenings they would put a notice board up saying 'Moussaka or similar night tonight, tell us if you want to eat with us', the food was inexpensive but lovely.
The family running the hotel were kind and welcoming but unobtrusive.

As I say, I don't know whether I could find anything similar again.

We want to go for 2 weeks in late August.

We don't mind what board but it must have a pool, air con and WiFi.
We don't want a large, corporate hotel. If we can't find the sort of place I'm describing we'll rent a villa.

I know it's a big ask but I thought it was worth chucking it out to you all as there might just be somewhere...

Have a look at Havania apartments near Aghios Nikolaos in Crete. We didn't stay there but walked past them nearly every night and spoke to people who did and sounds similar to what you describe x

Faros Villa Hotel on Naxos. Wonderful family run hotel/taverna.

Apanemo, Santorini

Hotel Meganissi on Meganissi is just like this. The son runs it, and his parents cook. Very clean and charming hotel and apparently most of the guests return year after year. Vathi, the harbour is in walking distance and has great restaurants. We booked through Ionian holidays.

Villa Miltos in Skiathos. We've stayed there 3x. Short walk to Kolios Beach, pool, aircon, wifi, lovely family.
