Help ..... Panicing

In brief we booked a 1 week half term break to the Balearic islands and due to fly home Sunday. Had stayed at the same resort last year and enjoyed a great holiday, but this year its been awful. Weather is poor which can't be helped....

However we booked with a very reputable holiday company which states the hotel is situated with easy reach to local amenities and offers a full holiday kids club..... Except all the shops and restaurants have closed up in the last 48 hours, went to get bread and milk today and sign on the supermarket advised its shut for the season so have had to rely on the hotel for food and drinks. Obviously this is much more expensive than the local supermarket so unsure if we even have enough money for food until Sunday, the entertainment has now finished and we are just watching the hotel get packed away.

I am absolutely gutted and this has sent me into a tailspin with regards to my anxiety..... Is it reasonable to expect the holiday co to get is home to the UK before Sunday and what about the additional expenses which we have limited access to cash for AngryConfusedSad

Unfortunately the onus was on you to ensure that you knew the season and what would be open and closed. The insurance company won't bring you home, you aren't sick, you have access to food, water, safety and shelter - the resort is still open and functioning.
You made a planning mistake, it sucks, but chalk it up to experience, not all holidays are perfect.

Thanks tbh I expected a reduction of services as it is the end of the season, however the hotel and the holiday company should have given us some notification of NO local amenities / no kids club as all the websites for the shops locally are saying they are open when the reality is that the shops are boarded up and lights protected with bin bags, local knowledge is key. Furthermore, when a holiday is advertising facilities surely they have a duty to provide these until the last customer leaves. We have been spending €3 at lunch about the same for breakfast, but at the mercy of the hotel restaurant, we are looking at €20 for a sandwich, no crisps.

We avoided taking our kids out of school and paid thousands for this holiday, we have been thoroughly connedAngry

Could you get a bus or taxi to a big supermarket and stock up for the next few days and just use the local supermarket for fresh bread?

Thanks mirmuc, luckily 1 supermarket which was closed the other day opened again yesterday so we got bread and milk. We then ventured into the next town, but found it in a similar state. Did manage to locate some ex pats and they reported that the weather has been unusually bad and they have in previous years found the area to be still well stocked and serviced. I think its just bad luck particularly as the weather isn't quite as bad and the forecast next week is lovely Sad
