Warsaw/Krakow - stay in hotel or apartment

Hi,
I've never been to Poland before and are staying in Warsaw and krakow in February.
I'm torn between staying in a hotel or an apartment. We usually stay in apartments but its been in places we sort of know. The apartments are lovely and can be very reasonable but a hotel would give us a point of contact with staff and also a supplied breakfast.

I was looking to be very central in the cities but when we went to London we didn't stay too central but got around well via public transport.

Has anybody who's been got any good advice?

Thanks,
Lisa

Following as I’m going early next year too.

Can I follow this too? I want to take dh to Krakow for his 50th birthday early next spring.

In fact, my mum went to Krakow recently, when I speak to her later this week I will ask for hotel details and post them here.

When we went to Krakow we stayed in a cracking apartment on the corner of the main square, it was pretty cheap too. I'm afraid I can't remember the name of it but it couldn't have been any more central.

Same. We stayed in a lovely little house from Airbnb and it was a perfect location for the main old town in Kraków.

The only area which is a bit further away is the old Jewish Quarter which is now the super hip and trendy bar area. It was lovely but actually I felt a bit old - not in my twenties - so no great loss.

Is it easy to shop in the supermarkets etc? We aren't getting to Warsaw until mid/later Sunday afternoon so will it work out OK having an apartment. There seems to be some lovely ones in Warsaw....not looked at Krakow yet.

I have been to Wroclaw, Warsaw and Gdansk in the last year with my family. We have always stayed in apartments through booking.com. They have all been inexpensive, central, clean and well equipped! Enjoy.

Thanks - I've opted for apartments. There were so many lovely ones that were central and we'll just see how we get on with food etc.
