Wonderful place, great food, nice people, lovely scenery and getting easier to get to. ( BA / EJet)
Dubrovnik beautiful walled city.Good for short break maybe hire car for a day or so explore coast.
Split / Spalato smaller but pretty ( would poss go into an island from there)
Istria more tuscany ish roaming kind of place.

Oh please, I am no where near as picky as she is. And my budget is much lower .

What about Zagreb?

Thank heavens for that don't even know if she did eventually decide on where !!!

To be honest I only drove through Zagreb so I cant really comment ..it was a bit industrial on the outskirts but as are most cities. I know a bit on the other areas though

HAve you stayed in Dubrovnik. Have been reading a bit on Conde Naste. Looks nice.

It is lovely . Have stayed in the city and also on the outskirts Cavat ( prounced Saftat) and Lapad . Lapad is a bit like the beachy area of Dubrovnik and has a large majority of the hotels. Don't be put off by the hotels not all being in the centre as the buses are pretty good and the parking round the city itself is a nightmare. there are some lovely apartments as well.

Okay, I tend to like cities, architecture, culture, nice restaurants, and so on. I'm not really muchbof a beach person. Will I find this in Dubrovnik?

What is the food like? I like seafood, but DH doesn't.

HOw long were you planning on staying ?

Yes you will find this all in DBV it is a small city hence the question . Yes to seafood and yes to other types of food.

Suggestion fly into Dubrovnik have a couple of nights there then drive up to Split maybe stopping along the coast- beautiful scenery and fly out of Split. YOu can get reasonable priced accom in all areas.

Leave London on Monday and return on Friday. Sometime in September, but not fussed about which week.

I would try to look for accom as September is still popular. FOrgot to say if you want to stay in Dbv there are boat trips to the islands, and also excursions ( some like some hate coach trips ??) to Montenegro and other places.

DARN! DH has said "no" to Croatia. Will have to find someone else to go there with.
