Holiday over Brexit

I want to go to Amsterdam for my birthday in March. My birthday is the 28th and was thinking of going from the 28th-30th. However, Brexit happens on the 29th....

I do want to go and I'm not sure of the chance I'll get to go again (various weddings taking up holiday next year as well as saving for my own wedding in 2020).

I don't know whether or not to risk it or maybe go this time next year once everything has happened....

Personally would wait until its clearer what's happening or go weekend before. I wouldn't book for following year either at this stage.

Do you have to be there for your actual birthday? I'd go the weekend before.

DH and a friend will be driving back from a ski trip in France on 20th March, which is fine. We've agreed that the week after would be too risky in terms of delays.

I’d go the weekend before.

I wouldn't but I'm very risk averse and would hate to think I might spend a significant proportion of a short away weekend queuing at the airport or mucking about due to flight cancellations. If any progress had been made at all then maybe, but it looks like we're likely to leave with no deal which means borders might be a bit confusing for a few weeks.

Going away the week before is a great idea! For some reason I hadn't even thought about doing that. Think the blinkers were on in terms of wanting to be there on my birthday (never been away over it or anything so would have been the first time!).

Thanks everyone!

If it helps, I'm having my 40th birthday trip after the actual weekend so 4yo DS will not feel left out.
Have a brilliant time.
