Lanzarote/Fuerterventura

Can anyone recommend some lovely affordable hotels in Lanzarote for me and my 2 children aged 16 and 7 please?
Also, if I wanted to go to Fuerterventura to stay instead, could I just go over on a boat with all our luggage? Would that be allowed?

Ooh I am keen for this too. Wanting to go away in February and was thinking Lanzarote, Fuerto or La Gomera. Would love some suggestions of nice places to stay.

we always stay in villas or apartments. wouldnt it be easier to get a flight straight to fuerterventura? you will have to get a cab from the airport to the ferry port.....i know they go from playa blanca, not sure where else, and this is a fair way. And i have heard the crossing can be quite choppy

I’m not too good on Lanzarote, but we enjoyed Playa Park in Corralejo and the Melia hotel in Jandia.

Jandia was warmer, but quieter (and teenage DS found the naturalist beaches embarrassing- a difficult age for that!). However, the turtle sanctuary was good and the town in that area were lovely.

Corralejo was cooler but busier. You can get the boats to Lanzorote. We saw flying fish on our journey.

We got a good value deal at the Hesperia Playa Dorada in PLaya Blanca, which was really well located. A path out of the front of the hotel onto the pedestrian prom that goes all the way along the the seafront between the Marina and the Port area - both great places to find nice restaurants. Also directly opposite the good town beach. Cycling distance (hired bikes) to the beautiful more wild Playas Papagayos.

A stroll to the ferry port for a day trip to Fueterventura, but we didn't do that.

People seem to love or hat Lanzarote. We really enjoyed it but we are into interesting volcanic landscape and art and culture (the Cesar Manrique houses and attractions).
