Going to Formby for Fathers Day - where should we go for pub lunch?

Hi - DH has decided on Formby for Fathers Day Outing and after blustering about on the beach we want to go eat. Can anyone recommend a nice child friendly pub doing good food (real ale would be good too as it is fathers day!)?

if you go into ainsdale there is a carvery there called the toby

erm, nice pub in halsall, but that is way away from formby

or you could take a picnic to formby point, and eat on the beach!
