I love the Van Gogh museum. Also wine and cheese canal trip in the evening. The Sky lounge has great view. You can get the ferry to the northern part. Otherwise just potter. And some great restaurants hidden in the red light district.

All very touristy but I ❤️ Amsterdam.

Hi. I'm an Amsterdam blogger and you'll find loads of tips on my site

www.amsterdamwonderland.com

The flower market is a bit rubbish I'm afraid but there's so many other wonderful things to do, see (and eat!) there. Take a look at the Bejignhof for starters!

Let me know if I can help with anything.

Thank you both very kind

Rijksmuseum, Vondelpark weather permitting, botanic garden are all lovely. Have a great time!

I’m going in January and so far we’ve booked Anne Frank. This week (pay day) we’re booking the Body Worlds place and Heineken.

Anyone who’s been, silly question really but how do you get from the Airport to the city? Specifically Vondelpark, we’re staying next door. I’m assuming the train, is it easy to find and navigate?

surferjet · 29/11/2018 19:19

Hi op,
I’ve been to Amsterdam several times & just jump on the train from the airport ( train easily accessible & signposted ) only takes about 30 minutes?
Have fun!

Agree the flower market is a bit shite - loads of tat.

Van Gough
Rembrandts House
Troppen museum
Zoo

Are you going with kids? I went to the maritime museum with my 11 year old and it was great. We went on a Sunday morning and pretty much had the place to ourselves.

I want to to the science museum next time but am waiting until the spring / summer so we can go on the roof

If no kids, potter around eating and drinking things Smile

The Van Gogh museum. We booked tickets for opening time, didn't bother with the headset and ran up to the top to have five minutes of Almond Blossom all to ourselves.

The canal trip was a really good way of looking around and deciding where we wanted to explore.

WrongSideOfHistory · 29/11/2018 19:52

Train from airport then tram to vondelpark.

Check out the Art Deco cinema if it's still there Smile

Sex museum (just for laughs)
Torture museum (we stumbled on this by mistake but it was very good!)
Canal boat tour

Van Gogh museum was very boring for us!!

Eat crepes and Nutella and chips and mayonnaise 😏

Go to Wynand Fockink for jenever - lovely and quirky little bar with a huge variety of flavours of jenever - they let you try as many as you want before buying, and will help you choose. They then fill the glass to the brim so you have to stoop to take your first sip.

Try ‘Those Dam Boat Guys’ for a tour of the canals - small boats holding about 10 people - they encourage you to bring your own drinks (and possibly other things!) and you get chatting to the other passengers - it was a lot of fun.
