Is there a French equivalent of John Lewis?

(Apologies for insufferably middle class question!)
DP is taking me to Paris soon and we'd like to do some French shopping for clothes and housewares that are a bit different from the UK. The tourist sites all recommend Galeries Lafayettes etc, but we're not in a designer price bracket. We'd just like naice quality stuff for a few treats without feeling overwhelmed by price tags - sort of a French John Lewis, if there is such a thing? Any recommendations?

Printemps? In Boulevard Haussman

It is a long time since I've been in one though.

Monoprix always has lovely clothes and home stuff and isn't too expensive.

flugelhorn81 · 06/10/2018 17:33

Yes I came on to say Monoprix - especially if you go to one of the bigger ones.

One of the lovely things about France is all the little shops and you will find gorgeous, well priced homeware shops on every street! Lucky you!! Have a great time.

I was also going to suggest Jean Louis 😂

No seriously Printemps?

To be fair some stuff in galleries lafeyette are very reasonable, Monoprix perhaps, also there are H&M home and Zara home stores which I’ve never seen in the U.K. Additionally French supermarkets and Veti Marche/ Gemó can sometimes have fab clothes and homewears and are usually found out of town in malls.
Are you and DP driving to Paris? If you are there are great shops in Cité de Europe just into Calais and the Designer outlet village is there too.
Have a lovely trip

Galeries Lafayette and Printemps are the two big Parisian department stores. Not necessarily designer though they do stock some high end stuff. But not exclusively so. I'd have put them on a par with House of Fraser.
There's also La Samaritaine, which has been under refurbishment for years but I think it's meant to reopen this year (maybe it already has?)

Lovely, thank you all for the suggestions!
