Bilbao / Asturias

Flying to Bilbao, staying for two nights before driving to the Asturias region for four nights. 2 adults, 2 children aged 5 and 2.

Can anyone recommend things to do in Bilbao and a nice village to base ourselves from in Asturias, as well as things to do there? Both kids are good walkers and like the outdoors.

I au-paired in Luanco for 2 mths. It's where lots of people from Oviedo have holiday homes.

I have lived in Bilbao and there is lots to do. If it's nice, take the train up the coast to Las Arenas (Getxo in Basque) for nice beaches, or Plentzia. If you have a car, the most magical place ever is San Juan de Gaztelugatxe

it's like something out of Harry Potter. Amazing place. The little villages of Bakio and Bermeo are lovely too.
