Barcelona for a week?

Thinking of going at half term with DC aged 12 and 13. Would a week be too long in Barcelona. If you think do, where could we go as well? Madrid, Seville or somewhere else?

We did 10/11 days in Barcelona a couple of summers ago (dd would have been 12/13 then) it worked out really well for us as we didn't feel like we were rushing around trying to fit everything in. DH and I had been before but not DD so we did all the "sights" again - La Sagrada, Parc Guell, the beach, the modern art gallery, we were there for the fiesta where each of the districts decorate a street, went out of town to a quieter park. We contemplated getting the train out to Stiges for the day but didn't in the end, ditto going to a football match.

We had a reasonable sized apartment and were lucky to be on the roof so we had roof terraces which meant we could chill out rather than having to return to a small hotel room - I think that made a difference to us.

We really enjoyed being there for that amount of time mainly as we could relax and not feel we had to do x that morning and we could adjust the holiday to how we were feeling.

Enjoy!!

I think it will be fine op. There is a fantastic cheap rail service from barcelona if you want to go on a day trip or two.

I think a week is fine for a big city, especially if you are self catering rather than in a hotel and enjoy just wandering around exploring etc, rather than just box ticking all the sites. Plenty of attractive destinations nearby as well, either for day trips or a combination break - eg: Girona is a lovely small city and easy to reach by train, Besalu an attractive village, Cadaques on the coast near France, also Montserrat is a great day trip option.

Book attractions in advance, if they sell out you can't walk up on the day.
