Looking at holidays for next year . I don’t want to blow my savings on a package holiday . Looking at travelling with my DS who will be 11 . I want an adventure , experience other cultures rather then sat by a pool -but don’t know where to start ! Any ideas much appreciated would be on a budget - any advice would be gratefully appreciated. TIA

I'd recommend sleeper trains. Adventurous, you wake up in a new country each day and get off wherever you fancy.

South Korea is amazing, friendly, safe, cheap and clean. You can easily get around by train and see some really cool stuff and stay in different cities like gyongju and busan. There are lovely national parks and they're all immaculately footpathed. Food can be adventurous but there are 'French' cafes everywhere, European and Chinese food as well as local food.

Stick to Europe with a child.

Amazing places in the Balkans - Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro. You could even island hop in Greece.

It is possible to visit 8 countries for a travel cost of £100 (for one person). Obviously factor hostels or hotels on top of this.
