We loved the cat cafe there. Great food and lovely cats. Obviously not for those who aren’t animal lovers though!

Here... the food is more southern italian but fantastic - we walked past as he was writing the today special up and it was! we didnt book as we were quite early but it filled up over teh time we were there with a mainly local/italian mixture a couple of tables were booked but most not...the food was excellent - we all had the pasta , but the sarters epecially were really good...he suggested a different wine to go with it than we had picked (not dearer just said this will be better than that!)
and it was great....

You cannot go to Milano and not eat a panzerotto at Luini. www.luini.it/index.htm it is right next to the Duomo and the Galleria. No seating, you just eat it in the shop or outside.

Next get ready for the aperitivo. This is Milano at its finest, drink with free food buffet

Anywhere not near the Duomo or main shopping drags - it's a very expensive city so eating further out helps. Milan isn't the prettiest city (but it's interesting & unique) & doesn't really have the charming piazza 's with nice cafe's that you'll find everywhere else in Italy

Floaty2018 · 15/09/2018 08:57

I know a PP said dont eat near the Duomo but there is the Motto Cafe right next to the Duomo, fab interior and the best pizza I ate in Milan.
A word of advice, don't go to the Armani Prive club/lounge. €20 for a Sprite!

SJane45S · 15/09/2018 09:09

Yes I said it - but to qualify, the restaurants off the Duomo & on the road up to the Sforza castle were at the very least twice the price of what we'd just paid in Sanremo, it was the end of a long holiday & I'm a grumpy cheapskate! I'm sure if you went knowing it's a bit pricey & with a good budget they'd be fine - it's an attractive area. There were quite a lot of mozziex out a night though in summer.

Glad someone recommended luini, looked fab and smelt great but the q was too long for us....as had a train to catch...

for a take out PECK delicatessen was very pretty - like a mini harrods food hall (similar prices too)

opposite was a fresh fish place - that looked like it was doing fish and chips...:)

around there were a number of really pretty foodie shops and some nice looking cafes.....its not far from the Duomo but felt like wondering into a local smart neighbourhood...

We like this restaurant, Da Regina, which is just off the Duomo. Scroll to the bottom for some pics.

We were recommended this place by our hotel which was lovely and has the best fish

It’s on the via Fiore Chiara which is in the middle of the Brera perfume district so a nice place to wander round in the day time too.

When are you going? We are hoping to go mid October, love Milan!

Jungfraujoch · 15/09/2018 13:47

Ooh lots more for me to check out - thanks so much! Welshcake we’re going next Friday for 3 nights!!
