Anyone done a weekend break at Gleneagles, spa, afternoon tea, meals golf and chill. Is it worthwhile?

Personally, I think it depends what you're looking for. The Spa is amazing, my favourite in Scotland so far) and the breakfast is pretty good too.

But I feel it's over-priced & the main dining room is quite formal & lacking in atmosphere (reminded me of being on a cruise with golfing pensioners). Martin Wishart's on-site restaurant is meant to be really good though.

If I was spending that kind of money, I'd go to the Fairmont in St Andrews, or the Old Course hotel, where there's a bit more to do in the town. (There's not much in Auchterarder). Maybe Archerfield (amazing hotel, fantastic spa) near North Berwick which is lovely).
