baby carriers and beach tents

i have a 9 month old and we're wanting to go walking with her - shortish walks about an hour at a time - do you have any advice as to which baby carrier is best and what also i'm looking at those beach tent things...
not sure where to atart on this so any advice wwould be great!

vaude make and excellent not too expensive back carrier (under 90 pounds). we have the jolly light model.
