Benidorm or Alicante?

Looking for a quick get away in early October for our anniversary. We are 26 and 36, just looking for a few days of chilling on the beach, good food and drink etc. Torn between an all inclusive in Benidorm or self catering in Alicante.

Is anyone able to advise which area is best? And whether it's worth doing all inclusive? We normally would but I feel for only 4 nights I'd quite like to have a look around the area and try some different places.

Thanks for any advice!

Neither for me sorry.

Have you had a look at Malaga city? Fab place, great shopping, beach on the doorstep, magic food/tapas, lovely spot altogether.

Highly underrated IMV.

But then again each to their own. Someone else may come along with more info about Beni And Ali lol.

Early October is risky if you want to chill on the beach. You may have glorious weather or it might rain for four days!!

I've stayed in Benidorm for four days at the end of September, we had a nice time but weather was quite mild (albeit just about fine for the beach). I've never been to Alicante but I like pp suggestion of Malaga, I've heard a lot of good things about it.

Alicante all the way unless you do old town in beni
Nothing like you see on telly then real old school Spanish tapas and cobbled streets 👍🏻👍🏻

Totally depends what you want. If it's pubs and clubs and fish n chips then Benidorm. Alicante very different. Old town Benidorm is lovely. But I'm old and past the clubby phase Grin

Try Valencia. A shortish drive from Alicante airport and a lovely town for a long weekend

Alicante is lovely. WAY more Spanish than Benidorm, and no 18-30 strip of awful clubs and Burger Kings.

Benidorm gets my vote. Was expecting it to be really chavy, and it wasn’t. The prom/beaches are lovely and the old town is great too. Yes there’s lots of bars but it didn’t have that horrible ‘going to kick off any second’ vibe some resorts have. I’ve been in November and December and the weather has been fabulous both times - shorts in the day time but chilly at night. Recommend seeing a show at the Benidorm Palace - proper old school dancers in feathers stuff Grin

Alicante is way more residential however fairly quiet.

Benidorm old town is lovely, and the main strip is quite tacky but funny!
