Hi,

Hope someone can help, we are going to France next week and we will be going by ferry, so in all about 8 hours in the car. DD (who is 4) gets travel sick so I can't give her anything to play with. We have got a MP3 player so she can listen to stories and songs but the only game I can think of is eye spy, which can get a little tiresome. Can anyone suggest any good games we can play with her?

Many Thanks

Kate

We count caravans /lorries/buses.
everytime we get to a set number that person gets a treat. Also we look for the name of places ewe will pass or are going to ,it helps her learn letters aswell. Not sure how that would work for you but we regularly do 4hrs in the car and it keeps my lo amused.

You can try - if you have a good memory - introducing the shopping game: I went to the shops and I got an Ant... and so on through the alphabet, taking turns to choose what to buy. She'll need some help remembering what you've already bought but it's good for practising letter sounds. Make sure you buy mad, easy to remember things though! DS loves made up stories all about a crocodile called Crochet which we use as a way of talking about what DS has done during the day, but we use Crochet as the central character instead - DS likes to tell his own stories using this method so you could try that. But DS would quite happily listen to his story CDs for the entirety of any trip we take (although if I have to hear about Winnie the Bloody Pooh any more...)
