Toddler Travel Seat

DS 15 months has outgrown his car seat that attaches onto our pushchair system and is now in a big heavy toddler size one.

We don't have a car but obviously use the car seat when we rent one etc. We take public transport a lot. I had always said we need a car when DS outgrows his baby seat but we can't really afford one and we like being car free. Anyway, I'd like to take the train to visit some friends but we would really need a car seat at the other end as where they live is quite rural and not accessible by transport. So what are my options? I'd be traveling alone with my son so have a pushchair and all our stuff. Car seat is very heavy.

Are there lightweight travel seats or carrier options? Ideally needs to be rear facing. Don't have a budget in mind but presume it's all cheaper than buying a car!

I recommend a light weight car seat, ours weighs more than the car itself! But I definitely recommend a car seat bag. You can get ones with straps and little wheels.

We have the urban kanga. Its light weight, comes with a bag. Its quite easy to fit eg taxi at airport. We’ve used ours for every trip out of London since ds was 1 and it has been amazing.

@TakeMe2Insanity I did see those for sale on amazon after I posted this. Good to hear a positive review! Ideally we'd want rear facing but I suppose the options are limited for this particular use! It looks like it's pretty lightweight. Does it fit on the back of a pushchair?

It comes with a bag, and you could loop it round a pushchair but its quite easy to have on your shoulder.
