What's the difference? If it worth it? Flying uk to USA

Watching with interest and have watched their premium economy video, I'm thinking of doing this, hope someone can enlighten us.

StrawberryStar · 02/09/2018 21:27

Depending on the price difference then yes, you get extra leg room and luggage allowance. If it’s an affordable upgrade I’d go for it but if money is tight I’d rather spend it on an experience when there.

Arrrgh I've done it! Booked!! I don't even know what the price difference was I just had a moment and thought Sod it!!!! ConfusedGrin

Bearing in mind for the last 10 years I've only flown Ryanair... I'm quite excited!!!!

I booked with Virgin last month but don’t think they have premium economy. These are their economy classes

Yes, I flew on Virgin last year. Economy out and Premium Economy back. Definitely worth the extra for us as more room - it was a night flight and wanted to give us all a better chance of sleeping.

bluemoonchances · 02/09/2018 22:25

They definitely do @AutoFilled because I just booked it!! Grin

@bluemoonchances that’s so odd! It is apparently a new thing but you just booked!

LoniceraJaponica · 02/09/2018 22:46

We just paid for extra legroom, not premium economy, which IMO, was worth it.

bluemoonchances · 02/09/2018 22:52

This is what we've booked www.virginatlantic.com/gb/en/virgin-experience/cabins/premium.html

It's called premium but think it was called premium economy. It in same area as economy but bigger seats and a few little perks.

We were in steerage on our Virgin Atlantic flight to LA a couple of weeks ago. Well economy delight so we had a bit more leg room.

But looking at the premium bit the seats were much wider, leather looking and they got special food and a nice drink when they boarded. Plus your own queue and priority boarding. Bigger toilets as well. Steerage had to use four tiny ones at the back.

Enjoy!!

TroubledLichen · 03/09/2018 00:31

Virgin premium economy is actually very good, you’ve made right call and I hope you enjoy the extra comfort! Now if only they flew between the UK and my home city, we only have BA, AA and United Sad

It looks lovely!!! My only complaint would be (looking at the pictures) the middle doesn’t come up- if flying with someone else that’s amenable to it, it nice to get rid of that and stretch out. But it looks amazing and comfy! Go you!

bluemoonchances · 03/09/2018 01:03

Thanks guys! I'm anticipating that compared to my usual Ryanair flights I'm in for a treat! GrinGrin

I flew premium with Virgin to Cuba and back a couple of years ago. Definitely worth it! So much more comfortable and the food was quite a bit better! Enjoy!

GinaCarbonara · 03/09/2018 12:45

I flew premium economy with them to NYC a few years ago, it was great and well worth it. Comfy wide seats, good legroom, refreshments were great.

BamboofordinnerAgain · 06/09/2018 17:11

You did the right thing. It’s not luxurious, but it’s way more pleasant on a long haul flight.
