Villa or small hotel near split

Looking for recommendations. We are thinking about a small ship cruise leaving from split but want to tack on before staying at a small hotel or villa near a beach that we can get to by public transport from split airport. Looked at various websites but am struggling to find anything thats not extortionate.

It's been ages since I've been but I thought I'd respond as no-one else has...

From what I remember, the beach near Split was a wee bit out of the city, but there was a lido type affair near the centre.

If you're going for beaches then there are nicer ones on the islands, which you'll see during your cruise. But the best bit about Split is wandering around the Diocletian Palace.

I'd suggest doing beaches elsewhere and seeing the historical stuff in Split.

Thank you FlubQueen. I am the ultimate thread killer....We came to the same conclusion so have binned the cruise idea. Goingt o stay on an island and hop on and off ferries

We went to Solta end of July. Lovely holiday☺️
Accommodation is quite basic but WiFi everywhere. Nowhere was crowded.
Most of the beaches are small pebbly bays but no problem with neoprene type 'seashoes'.
Day visitors off the early ferries step straight on to buses which take you to a beach. It's well organised.
