Food advice for one year old travelling abroad

Ds is one tomorrow and we're off to Cyprus on 17th (self catering villa).

He has been fed on home cooking (I do big batches and freeze it all) and has never had a baby jar - something I am quite proud of as I used to be allergic to the kitchen and lived off salad rolls.

Don't really want the palaver of hoiking the ice cubes/hand blender etc. abroad but anxious about using jars in case he doesn't like them or I like them too much and abandon the home cooking! What are the best baby jars?

Should I take the plunge and just give him mashed versions of what we have? He is (touch wood) a very good eater and will try anything, loves veg and fruit, garlic, fish etc.etc.

Any advice welcome.

just give him what you have !

MAshed versions of what you have. But bear in mind that the things you are used to have may be totally different to those in the country you are visiting.

I have found it useful to get something with us so at least DS has something he is familiar with (like crackers, cereal, etc) which we complement with local things.

If he's OK with finger food, you should be able to just have him share whatever you're having - ds1 was fine with this when we took him to Greece at 12 months. I would try to make sure you have at least one meal a day in your villa, of something that is familiar to him so you know he's eaten well at least once!
A tip for eating out, get the waiter to bring bread to the table straight away so ds has got something to occupy himself with!
Have a lovely time !

thanks all! I'll take a couple of my full-proof recipes and take it from there. ds does love his finger food so hello couscous here we come...
