Looking for non touristy places to eat and listen to music (together or separately) whilst in the above cities.

It's a bit of a whistle stop tour, staying 3/4 days in each.

All ideas and recommendations appreciated

Thanks

I only know Nashville we'll out of those cities, Martins BBQ is a Nashville chain and the downtown branch has a fun garden with band stage.
The George Jones museum does a fabulous weekend breakfast brunch, the restaurant has river views and live music
The bars / restaurants on Broadway are very crowded and touristy but there's plenty in the surrounding streets that are much more fun, I like Skulls which has live music early evening then Burlesque later in the night!
Nashville is famous for Hot Chicken, The best non-touristy place for chicken is 55 South but if you want the VERY best then I'd go to Hattie B's but be prepared to wait an hour or more!

Thanks NMF.

Will take a look at all the places you've mentioned.

For Hattie B’s, best hot chicken in Nashville, go to one of the ones not on Broadway and there’ll be much less of a wait (if any at all). Also recommend Skulls. Pinewood Social is also a great brunch spot.

I don’t know the other cities.

Have a great trip Grin

Great roadtrip! I did this years ago & it’s amazing.

Memphis - try BB King’s Blues Bar. This is the original club (I understand it’s a chain now but hopefully that hasn’t impacted on this particular venue).
New Orleans - Royal Cafe. We ate lunch there on the first floor balcony. The food was delicious & an all-female trad jazz band were playing in the street below (it’s on the corner of a crossroads). You couldn’t get more New Orleans - & felt it was a world away from the tacky Bourbon Street tourist trap (packed full of strip clubs & over-priced blues bars).
Nashville I can’t help with. We went to the Grand Ole Opry but found the town overwhelmingly busy so didn’t actually stay there.

Try the City Winery in Nashville. Take a jumper - they have their AC on "arctic" setting!
