Porto Elounda or St Nicholas Bay in Crete? Or any other suggestions!

Has anyone been to either of these. SO many different Elounda's I can't keep up, but this is one we've been quoted for. It's such a ludicrous amount of money and reviews on trip advisor not that fab, but they have space when we want to go and am sure kids would like it cos lots of other english kids there. Would just hate to push the boat out moneywise and be disappointed. Rang another travel co who recommended St Nicholas Bay, significantly cheaper but again not great reviews on tripadvisor...

Just want a nice luxy-ish hotel near nice beach which will have lots of English kids for older 2 (5 and 8) and some eve babysitting for baby...oh and availability for 2 weeks in August

Anyone any thoughts?

Is that Porto Elounda near to Spinalonga (featured in 'The Island')? If it is - I'd definitely go as it's supposed to be stunning) but as you say, there are lots of Eloundas so wait until someone else comes along 'cause they might know.

The Elounda I was meaning is near to Plaka and is supposed to be a luxurious holiday destination with beautiful beaches.

Chania is meant to be beautiful, a Venetian port. We stayed at the eastern tip of Crete near Sitia, lots of beautiful quiet beaches. We went with Simply travel.

thanks for all this will check out where it is... Have since found a significantly cheaper option in Sardinia - which I'll start a thread on, but again, just as I get excited the trip advisor reviews are awful....
