Shorthaul in October

Can anyone recommend any good places to go on holiday in October? We normally go away in June, but couldn't this year and our next opportunity will be the first week of October, but I'm not sure whether Europe will still be warm enough?

Just me and DP, so don't need to worry about it being child friendly. We'd like somewhere where we can do a mix of sitting by the pool / on the beach and pottering around interesting towns / sights. For example we went to Malta last year and that was perfect. We'll be going for a week, so don't want to consider long haul.

TIA!

Couple of ideas here: www.metoffice.gov.uk/holiday-weather/where-is-hot/october

Early October should still be reasonably warm in Croatia too and places like Split, Dubvrovnik etc less crowded than they would be in summer. Or Santorini, which should be even warmer being further south. www.yr.no/place/Greece/South_Aegean/Santorini~252919/statistics.html

How about the Amalfi coast? Pompeii, Vesuvius and Herculaneum are pretty interesting.

We often holiday at this time of year, still reliably hot in a lot of places and the sea is warmer than in June. If you liked Malta, what about Gozo?

Marsalforn is the biggest 'resort' but it's tiny and has a small beach and lots of lovely harbourside restaurants. It takes about 20 minutes to drive everywhere on the island or there are buses including a hop on hop off bus that goes round all the main sights.

Last year we went to Mallorca for the first week in October and it was hot enough, but there were a couple of cloudy days and it rained once, for about an hour early evening. We just sat on the covered balcony and watched the rain before going out for a stroll, drinks and dinner as usual.

Cyprus and Costa del Sol still likely to be hot and sunny at that time of year. Malaga or Nerja with possibilty of trips to Granada would be a good holiday.

Lanzarote would also be a good choice, and is about a 4-5 hour flight depending on where you are in the UK and a good combination of beaches and non beach things to do.

Perfect! Thanks all. Plenty to look through :) Glad to hear we won't be disappointed with the weather.

Santorini is out because DH has decided he wants a beach... And we have been to the Amalfi coast a few years ago...

Was looking at Lanzarote last night, there seems to be loads of flights so that's probably a front runner. Although I had vetoed mainland Spain/closer Spanish islands on weather concerns. Will go back and revisit!

Thanks all! Planning a holiday is the most stressful bit! Confused

We've done Canary Islands in October and they've been lovely :)

Spain, Italy, Portugal all getting cooler by October.

Possibly Cyprus, Greek Islands (Kos, Kefalonia maybe) but possibly cooler than Canaries.

Cape Verde? We've done Boa Vista (loved!:)) and Sal (hated :))

Or try Africa although flights a bit longer...Morocco? Gambia?

Again another longer flight but Dubai? My favourite place ever! :)
