What National Trust places are nice at Christmas (London/South East)

Usually do Waddeston which is fab but fancy trying somewhere different. Willing to drive and hour or so (from NW London) if good. Poleston Lacey looks like it might be good, but worth an hours drive?

I went to Petworth a couple of years ago and it was amazing!

Wimpole is lovely and the farm is great.

I came on to this thread to suggest Waddeston, as I visited a couple of years ago at Christmas, and they'd put on a lovely hygge 'theme', but I see great minds think alike!

When I was on holidays a couple of years ago, we visited The Vyne in Hampshire, which was really nicely decked out for Christmas - it's the north of the county so may just about fit in with the travel time, maybe a bit over.

Watching this thread with interest, as I do love National Trust and having moved to the South East a few years ago, haven't seen as many places as I'd like yet.

Do you have young dc? Because some National Trust Christmas celebrations seem to target adults whilst others are more geared at the children.

Ah, I came on to say waddesdon too!

Not NT but Blenheim do a brilliant light display walk, I don't think they do the house though, it's all outside.

Might be a bit far but the winter lights at Anglesey Abbey bear Cambridge are lovely.

Teenagers Ricekrispie. Really enjoyed Waddesdon but feel time for a change!

Polesden Lacey was lovely last Christmas- beautifully decorated and with (pretty overpriced) horse and carriage rides. It's one of my favourites.

Also Igtham mote in Kent, which has Carol singers and other Christmas treats some weekends.

Waddesdon is the most spectacular. The Vyne is nice Victorian style and Basildon Park is lovely more homely and closer to now as is 1950s.
Away from National Trust, RHS Wisley's illuminations is lovely as an evening event.
