Drome Provencal??

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone's taken a family holiday in this region. I think the town of Nyons might be a good base? But not sure what there is to actually do there.... We're planning on a gite rental and flying into Montpellier.

It’s a lovely area, very peaceful and not over commercialised. Nyons is a pleasant town, with a great market. If you like olives, you will be in heaven. Roman ruins at Vaison la Romaine are worth seeing. Avignon isn’t too far. Mont Ventoux looms over the area, and I’d you like cycling (and pain) you can hire a bike and go all Tour de France.
And if you go there when the lavender is out, the smell is wonderful! There are some good swimming places, but I don’t know if it’s a good family destination. Depends on age of children, I guess.
