Is First class on GWR worth it?

I’ll be catching a ~2hr train from London to Bristol soon. This will be after a 13 hour flight.

Currently standard costs £12 and First at £27.

Is it actually worth the cost?

Alternatively I could take a slow train with South Western Railway for £13 in First.

WWYD?

The seats in first on GWR are lovely and wide. If you're going high speed, rather than a local service sometimes they do table service from the buffet car.
I'd say it was worth it for £27. You're much less likely to be crammed in with either masses of miserable commuters or noisy over-excited children either.

If it's only £27 I would book first class. GWR is rebound for being overcrowded and even reserving a seat doesn't guarantee one if you come up against someone who refuses to move out of your seat.

*renowned even!

Think I’m going to go for it.

Any idea how long I should leave between my flight arriving at Gatwick South terminal and then catching a train from there on?
